Story song about missed opportunity
songwriter warm epic storysongs
It will always make sense if you don't think about it too much.
I've been writing, recording and performing music for longer than I care to admit. Let's just say 20-25 years... give or take... as the crow flies. In the studio I do about everything except drums. I'm not 'great' at anything, just 'pretty good' at a lot of different things. I currently front 7 different line ups and outfits of various shapes and sizes and that keeps me playing pretty much year around. I can scale it down for budget-gigs and I can expand it out for the 'Big Show'. Current Acts: 1. SOLO- Louie McNeal (Acoustic Guitar and Vocal) 2. DUO 1- Fitzpatrick/ McNeal (2 Acoustic Guitars and 2 Vocals) 3. DUO 2 - Mc2 (Acoustic Guitar, Bass and 2 Vocals) 4. TRIO 1. - Acousticats (2 Acoustic Guitars, Upright Bass and 3 Vocals) 5. TRIO 2. - Hard Edits (Electric Guitar, Bass, Drums and 3 vocals 6. TRIO 3. - LTC (2 Acoustic Guitars, Percussion and 3 vocals) 7. QUARTET- Long Time Coming (Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Bass, Drums and 4 Vocals) [Though the majority of these bands and acts primarily focus on genre specific cover material, they are all capable of performing our impressive catalog of original compositions, when the opportunity presents itself.] I have recorded and produced 9 of my own albums (most available here on this site) and I have produced countless other acts and performers throughout my region. I love collaborating on songwriting. Some of my more accessible and popular tracks are ones where I worked with a collaborator. Music is my life. I sacrificed a LOT to be able to do it on my own terms and be happy about it. There are easier ways to go, but I prefer the more challenging aspects of writing, recording and performing my music. I really like the phrase, "A calm and easy ocean will make a lousy sailor out of you." Don't know who said it, but I seem to live by it.

Story behind the song
Story about a guy returning to his old stomping grounds in hopes of running into the girl that he had foolishly let slip away- due to him not thinking he was good enough for her. He should have at least kept in touch.
Lyrics
V1a Been a while, since I've seen you smile Figured that it was 'bout time Made the long ride to Breckenridge Not sure of what I might find V1b Maybe you'd gotten married, Maybe had a kid or two Maybe you might have thought about me Half as much as I dreamed about you Pre-Chorus 1 And the miles that took me away from you Become the miles that bring me back Spent the last ten years on a runaway train Going a hundred miles an hour, down a dead-end track Refrain Oh Jessica, my dear, I never thought that I would end up here On the road, back to Breckenridge V2a The bright lights of the city nights Pulled me from that small town Where I always managed to be odd man out Even when no one else was around V2b Always dreamed that you would be my girl Once I was able to stand But one thing led to another Before I knew it, you had slipped through my hands Pre-Chorus 2 But my heart was always true to the dream No matter where my feet went And the lonely days, turned into lonelier nights But the time I'd dream was time well spent Refrain Oh Jessica, my dear, I never thought that I would end up here On the road, back to Breckenridge Bridge Cardinal on a tombstone, flowers faded by the sun Neith the branches of a sycamore, was where the dream Had ended, and the heartache begun V3a Your mama said that you were two-years dead She couldn't quite remember my name Once I left, you moved on with your life Until all of that sickness came V3b Stood at your grave and had a good long cry Couldn't help but blame myself Always thought that if I'd make enough money You would never want to be with anyone else Pre-Chorus 3 But the truth I learned is it don't take money Don't take none of that stuff All it would have taken was a little time together But time was the one thing I couldn't give up Refrain Oh Jessica, my dear, I never thought that I would end up here On the road, back to Breckenridge Coda On the road Back to Breckenridge
